This recipe is a staple at our firm; I make it at to the lowest degree twice a week for Shabbat dinner. I typically triple all of the ingredients. I made some modest changes to the recipe; I sprinkle the brisket with salt, black pepper & parsley flakes. I simply utilise organic ketchup or any ketchup that DOES NOT take corn syrup in it. I have nothing against corn syrup, I've just institute that the brisket has a ameliorate flavor when I use the ketchup without it. I also utilise Vernor'due south ginger soda as I've found this brand to add together the best flavor without beingness overly sweetness. Sometimes I exit the carrots out & it'southward withal swell. I cook in my convection roasting oven at 375 degrees for the recommended time. I so take the brisket out of the oven & let it rest for 15-twenty minutes. And so, I piece information technology & put information technology along with the sauce in a large crock pot on depression until I'yard ready to serve. It'due south crazy but every unmarried person that has eaten the brisket prepared this way says it's the all-time they've ever had & nosotros're talking more than than 60 people!!!

Best Passover brisket I accept ever fabricated- to solve ALL cooking problems -use one of those plastic cooking bags- amazing soft as butter no trouble results- put all the carrots cerise potatoes and the like in the bag too- amazing results
05/07/2006
Very very successful! Since nosotros tin't get ginger ale, I substituted with equal amounts of Coke-a Cola and sweet red wine.
04/13/2006
This was FANTASTIC!!! And then easy to prepare. I fabricated information technology last night for Passover (doubled the recipe because there were 9 of us) and anybody loved information technology. Instead of cutting up large carrots, I merely added most two dozen baby carrots. My 24 year old godson who loves to cook, enjoyed the brisket so much, I sent him home with a re-create of the recipe. :-)
01/23/2007
Beware, this is a very sweet sauce. I even subbed one-half ketchup and half chili sauce and it was still too sweet. The gustation was not bad, only too sweet for my family as we don't like meat to have a sugariness taste. I guess I thought the soup mix would counter the sweet gene merely it didn't. The brisket did turn out very tender and sliced perfectly. I rinsed the carrots off because they were coated with the sweet syrupy sauce! Didn't serve the sauce with the meat, just heated bottled bbq sauce instead. Thanks anyway.

I've reviewed a good number of recipes. Some, probably overly critically. Always in search of that depth of flavour that makes the dish really come alive. "Grandma's Brisket" is, how tin I say this? Fantastic. Buttery smooth. Cook in your rima oris. Delicious. You lot don't even take to chew. And who would want to? If you lot chew that means you take to swallow. That means the taste is gone and y'all have to swallow....more than. It's almost indescribable. It's that good. The only change I fabricated, was to utilise a cooking handbag for the first ii hours and cutting it open for the last hour. The beef melts in your rima oris. Soft. Chewy. The carrots, infused with the beefy, onion, tomato flavour, are a meal unto themselves. They're that adept. The moisture works, left over in the bottom of the pan, are liquid gilded. There is no other mode to describe it. Spoon them over the sliced meat and this is....perfect.
01/15/2005
Strange ingredients, but very succulent! I used a bottle of chili sauce instead of the ketchup. Wonderful flavour!!
08/06/2008
Fabulous recipe. I was worried that non having a marinated piece of meat would produce subpar results just this recipe is like shooting fish in a barrel, flavorful, and requires no marination! I added a couple shots of worcestershire and garlic pulverization to the sauce. Served with boiled potatoes and green beans and carrots and drizzled the sauce on everything. Yum.
06/27/2006
This was the showtime time I ever had brisket and I take to say this was a great manner to prepare it. Easy and information technology tasted good, sort of similar a roast, just not as fatty and I liked that.
03/21/2008
This was so expert! My family loved this recipe! We added potatoes! This recipe has a sweet taste to it. I will be making this every St.Pattys twenty-four hour period.
05/18/2011
I have made this recipe many times and it never fails to please. I ordinarily add more carrots and onions than called for, along with a few potatoes. Always comes out moist, tender and delicious.
10/03/2011
I followed this recipe (minus the carrots -- didn't accept any) except I cooked information technology in the crockpot on low for 8 hours as I had the fourth dimension. I did non substitute or omit other ingredients. Wouldn't incertitude information technology was fantastic if cooked as instructed. It turned out great!!
03/27/2005
This recipe fabricated me expect like a good cook when my grandma came to visit, which was squeamish! The carrots that I cooked with the brisket turned out so proficient that I wished I had done a lot more, and potatoes as well.
10/19/2011
You lot should alter the title to Amazing Brisket. The dinner turned out that good. I followed some of the changes. I did the chili sauce instead of ketchup. I added 2 bay leaves. I put peeled potatoes and celery along with babe carrots and onion all effectually roasting pan. Afterwards 2 hours of baking I removed the foil and so sprinkled with paprika. Tell Grandma I said thank you.
06/03/2010
This was the all-time brisket I have always made! Delicous! I followed the recipe exactly, except I put into the crockpot for 8 hours on low. Flavorful and tender and ready to go when I got home from piece of work. I also added a few baby Yukon gold potatoes to round out the meal. Thank y'all for sharing!
12/26/2009
This was very tasty! I'm simply giving information technology 4 instead of 5 stars because information technology was non tender enough later 3 hours in the oven. I sliced it up after 3 hours and put it in a crock pot on loftier for 2 more hours. Then, it was nice and tender. I was too concerned about information technology existence too sweet so I used Newcastle beer instead of ginger ale.
09/28/2010
OUTSTANDING! My husband is a real meat and potato guy and loves Brisket. I beloved anything that tin can be delivered to my door. I gave him my word that 1 DAY I would make a Brisket for him and kept that word last week. You can't imagine what a sensation it was. This recipe is perfect, don't play with it, don't make corrections to it - only practise as PJCHECK'S grandmother used to do and y'all'll be making the all-time Brisket on world.
03/17/2011
I had to prove my worth to my Jewish hubby and in-laws past making a killer brisket. This recipe pes the nib, cheers PJCheck! Next time I volition make my own dry onion soup mix to lessen the sodium, simply a personal preference. Other than that no complaints, as they loved it and devoured every morsel.
11/06/2011
This was okay, but I don't think I will do again....vegetables were wonderful but the meat was a bit dry and wearisome. I had a 6 pound brisket so I doubled everything.
x/01/2011
I never have any luck with brisket but this was a existent winner. So proud of myself. Just needed more liquid. Of course added potato.
01/01/2014
my Bubbie has made this all my life for every vacation. We are a large family unit then we ever endeavour to go as close to 5lb brisket. cook for forty minutes per pound is perfect. besides, we practise non use gingerale, I substitute a equal amount of skilful red vino. we take always found that it is best to permit cool, slice and re warm. this freezes beautifully.
04/17/2007
Not real crazy about this recipe. The sauce congealed into a thick greasy paste at the bottom of the pan after I took the lid off. I ended upwardly having to utilize bottled barbecue sauce. Won't be making this once again.
xi/08/2014
MY mother uses a like recipe with simply i change- we utilize h2o instead of ginger ale. I have never considered another choice since her brisket was so good, but I may have to try it. Otherwise, the lipton onion soup and ketchup (and slow cooking at 325 for 3 hours or more) does the flim-flam! Thank you!
11/nineteen/2014
This was good. It was a bit sweetness for our liking, simply overall it was a yummy dinner. I cooked it is the crock pot for half dozen hours on low and followed some other reviewers advice to use 1/ii ketchup and 1/2 chili sauce. I also added two tsp garlic, ii tsp Worcestershire, and two tsp Siracha. I besides used carrots, onions, and potatoes merely this would be skilful with any root vegetable.
04/02/2012
Very yummy and and then simple to make! However, during the last hour of cooking I had to add water as the sauce was getting very thick and I was scared it would fire. And so every few minutes during the final hr I added a bit of water and it however tasted Groovy! The added water didn't dilute the taste one bit!
05/31/2009
Admittedly fantastic - I've made it 2x now - huge success. I add extra carrots and potatoes, and use one-half white potatoes half sweetness potatoes. Delicious.
03/fifteen/2012
Yum...but yum! I put about 4 pocket-size potatoes cut upwards in the pan, and it always comes out not bad. One time I felt every bit if I didn't have enough liquid then the next time I fabricated it I wound up doubling the liquid - which was a BAD thought! And so definitely don't practice that.
08/12/2009
woooooow!! This brisket came out Astonishing! My fiance said information technology was the best brisket he has e'er tasted! Even over his own mothers! I left in the oven for a fleck longer then suggested and it literally fell apart it was so tender! Can't wait to arrive again!
03/26/2013
Mmmmmm. Absolutely delicious. A crowd pleaser and and so easy to make!
12/23/2012
Best BRISKET RECIPE EVER! I've been using Allrecipes.com for years and this is the first time I felt compelled to write a review. I made the recipe exactly as written complete with carrots and onions. The just deviation is that I used a 6lb brisket so I doubled everything. My entire family including grandparents and cousins polished off the whole thing (I was planning on leftovers!). Finally, I've found "my" brisket recipe.
03/06/2008
Awesome!
04/29/2007
We loved this brisket and it was and then very piece of cake to make. It was then tender it was falling autonomously. I will definitley make this again and again. I will just add more potatoes. Cracking RECIPE!!!!
03/07/2013
Very expert recipe. Added 2 tsp each of crushed garlic and sriracha. Cooked in crock pot on low for 6 hours. Would probably add together more hot sauce next time, as we like a kicking. But I'll definitely make once more. Cheers!
02/01/2010
Instead of putting this in the oven, we utilise the crock pot and it'south Excellent! The mean & carrots come out so tender and juicy. Nosotros also add together potatoes with it. I found this recipe most 2 weeks agone and we've had it twice already.
06/20/2012
Very delicious, cooked in the slow cooker for 6hours, also used this for a pork roast and that was very yummy besides
12/06/2010
Love this recipe. I make it all the time. No special occasion needed. My family loves it. I love how simple information technology is to make. Thanks for adding this recipe!
09/05/2013
This recipe was fantastic, my family loved information technology!!! I bought a brisket a little over 8pds. I used 1 box of onion soup mix and ane box of onion and mushroom soup mix. The vernors ginger ale tip was great. I already have asking's for the recipe.
08/10/2014
piece of cake. delicious!
03/02/2014
This is a simple recipe. The best recipes usually have modest ingredients. I added garlic because everything is better with garlic! I also substituted beer in place of the ginger ale. And then, I served information technology with rosemary potatoes and braised cabbage.Succulent.
11/08/2009
My married man's grandmother makes this verbal recipe, succulent.
09/22/2011
Fantastic! I sliced the brisket and served information technology in hoagie buns with the sauce. Everyone love it!
04/09/2014
Very easy recipe. Didn't have ginger ale so I used a canteen of booze beer. Broiled in Pyrex 9x12 at 300 degrees. I take my next one in the oven. Succulent. Trying it with potatoes.
09/22/2013
I fixed it in the crockpot and kept information technology on depression all day. It was the best brisket I have every had!
08/12/2005
Succulent!!!!
09/18/2009
i have cooked this for seders and holidays and got raves from all my jewish friends. dandy recipe
04/28/2010
this was just okay - I followed the recipe to the T. Everyone said information technology was as well sweet.
12/26/2009
Based on the ratings I took a chance and made this for a holiday gathering without testing it beginning. It was amazing. I was surprised because my grandmother's recipe takes days and several steps; not to mention at least twenty ingredients. The carrots were caramelized and sweet, the onions were brown and juicy. My guests raved about it for days. I will be making this over again.
04/xix/2009
This recipe was easy, but I call back that the cooking time should exist cut down past 20 minutes on the start time and peradventure thirty minutes without the lid. Or perchance continue it covered for the entire time. It was a petty dry out. Also, I remember that catsup shoud be cut in half, and add a half cup of cocktail sauce. In that location should be more than of a rest of salty, sweetness and spicy. I also added more carrots and potatoes. Next fourth dimension I will try mushrooms.
01/29/2012
I beloved this VERY easy recipe. It is very flavorful and easy to do. The only draw dorsum is that it takes 3 hours to cook, so it needs to be a repast I exercise over the weekend or when I get home early from work. I besides let information technology marinate overnight by preparing it the day before. I also throw in more veggies like big chunks of onions, squash & zucchini. I would include broccoli, simply I know it won't cook well. Savour!
02/14/2013
Wow, even my very finicky son loved this. He asked that I brand it again, simply not also often
11/04/2009
Easy, delicious. My husband liked information technology amend than his mother'southward recipe, and he LOVES his female parent's brisket.
01/xv/2017
Piece of cake peasy oh so breezy! Gustatory modality great, didn't brand information technology to left overs!
08/12/2012
Absolutely tasty. Hubby loved it. I establish information technology too tough and stringy for my taste. I remember I'll marinate information technology adjacent time.
12/25/2012
This was succulent!! I was hesitant at first, but with all of the adept reviews I figured I would try information technology. I used a 5lb brisket and cooked it at 350 covered for 3 hours and and then 1 60 minutes uncovered. The only trouble was that I did non double the ketchup/gingerale/onion soup mix so we did not have enough gravy for the leftovers. I will definitely exist making this again!!
12/31/2016
I make this every year for the holidays and everyone loves information technology thank you. If the author of this recipe reads this can you advise how long y'all would cook this recipe for a v.5 lb brisket? Thank yous
09/18/2016
Astonishing and easy!!
02/05/2009
I guess I missed doing somthing as it was not tender.
04/09/2020
I used to read reviews about wives making meals for their husbands and raving that information technology was hubby approved and I never understood the happiness.... until now. My boyfriend doesn't like cherry meat because information technology upsets his stomach if its not well done. Unremarkably for a red meat dinner he merely eats politely and says give thanks you. I fabricated this for passover this evening and he raved... I mean RAVED about this. He said I tin can make it whenever I want because information technology was that good. It meant a lot to make him happy for a poly peptide he hates. I would recommend uncovering information technology after 2 hours as directed and instead of uncovering for an hour, check in at the 30 infinitesimal walk. Later on a half 60 minutes information technology looked browned enough and then I just covered it again. Had I kept information technology unchecked I think it would have dried out. Will make again and again for each passover!
04/01/2021
Turned out like an exspensive roast. Suprisingly the ginger ale didnt exercise much. Carrots were the all-time office.
06/27/2006
the seasoning was super. I didn't have the burn problem, merely information technology did come out super salty. It could accept been the onion soup mix that I used, but I will be trying this recipe again and adding some h2o to sparse it out. Thanks for the mail!
x/12/2016
The flavour was skillful, although I hold it'due south southward piddling sweetness as others accept said, I made information technology exactly according to the recipe, but after I removed the cover, all the gravy dried out. I kept calculation water and then there was liquid to cook in and ultimately added several cups of water. But information technology still tasted good. I sliced the meat and put it back in the pan and left it in the fridge overnight. When I reheated information technology the side by side day (an hour in 300 degrees) I added another cup of water to create more gravy. We all liked it, but all agreed we have had better brisket before.
01/16/2018
I made this exactly as written, well-nigh! I didn't have onion soup mix so I made some, which is also piece of cake. I gave this recipe v stars because it was and so easy to make and so delicious. I didn't find it too sweet. I will be making this one once more and again!
02/15/2008
The easiest recipe ever and the quickest to make for a big crowd. Nifty flavor!Utilise it over and over again.
12/xviii/2016
Very good - will brand again. Not besides sugariness as others said.
01/04/2020
This is by far the all-time brisket recipe ever. The only affair I change is calculation double the amount of carrots. It's out of this earth and always comes out perfect
09/09/2018
I made this with Sweetness onion and diced beefsteak tomatoes. Started with a kickoff cut brisket room temp, pat dry. Kosher salt pepper, fresh garlic pressed and quality paprika rub.
07/09/2021
Increased it to make 12 servings.
03/27/2021
My favorite Aunt apply to brand this and it is delicious! Super easy to make and is a family unit favorite... Thanks for posting this!
03/27/2021
I made a similar brisket recipe. I use water instead of ginger ale and Liptons onion mushroom soup dry. I spread the dry out soup all over the top of the fat side of the brisket and drizzle ketchup on height. Pour about a one-half cup of h2o on meridian comprehend and broil at 190 degrees for 24 hours. Remove and let rest for an hour. Information technology is so tender it will cut with a fork. Use 2 packets of soup for more gravy and flavor. We as well quarter potatoes and put those in with the brisket.
04/13/2021
Cooked a 6 lbs brisket so pretty much doubled the recipe. Instead of the ginger ale, I subbed it with broth; 1 cup of chili sauce to the 1 loving cup of ketchup. Besides added 2 Tblsp of Liquid Smoke to give it a smoky flavor. I chose to add the carrots and onions at the last hour to avoid it being mushy. Baked it an additional hour due to the size....Came out great
04/01/2021
By far the worst brisket recipe I've ever used. Non tender at all, no gravy . I added the onion and carrots, hoping to puree them in the gravy but in that location was no liquid any
09/07/2005
While it was tasty, i plant that the brisket was still a chip on the tough side. Too, the topping crusted over quite hard and my kids wanted to cut it off. i thought more veggies (carrots and onions) than the recipe chosen for would exist ameliorate.
03/26/2018
Made this for a church building dinner and it was a success. I referred several people to this recipe. Will definitely make this my "go-to" brisket recipe.
04/06/2010
I only used a 2 pounds brisket and cooked at 350 for a little less than two hours. Very good, although I think I messed something up because the sauce/gravy wasn't very thick. Will definitely make this over again.
02/07/2016
I made this tonight for dinner and loved it! Thank you lot for sharing it! I will definitely make information technology over again very shortly;)
04/26/2020
Outstanding!! Did 2.5 hours covered. And hour off for a 5 pound flat. Thickened the gravy with a piffling corn starch.
03/29/2021
I made this recipe exactly equally written, only in the crock pot for 8 hours. The sauce was good, the meat was tough and stringy. Disappointed with results.
06/02/2006
The brisket itself was good, merely the jusices burned after I uncovered the meat. I call back it might have been the ginger ale. I take never had this problem with other brisket recipes.
09/30/2016
I make this with a simpler variation: I apply one cup of ketchup, 1 can of whole berry cranberry sauce, one cup water and one bundle Lipton beef/onion soup. For best results, identify the brisket in aluminum foil (criss cross two pieces), poor the mixture over it and then wrap the foil tightly. Keeping the meat in the foil the entire time keeps in the juices and makes the meat much more tender. Y'all will love love this mode and it is so much easier.
07/nineteen/2016
I made this almost exactly as the recipe stated except I used chili sauce instead of ketchup. My hubby and I loved it and he is super picky. I left the roasting pan covered the entire time and the brisket was very tender. We will make this over again.
09/19/2016
Outstanding, I cut the ketchup in half and used 6 oz. of Diet Ginger ale. Added a few drops of Worcestershire . Was tender, Now overly sweet like someone else stated. I also coated the meat both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic pulverisation before calculation anything pertaining to the recipe, because I do that to all meats. This is a definite redo.
04/13/2022
Made this recipe as outlined but added potatoes with the carrots. Recipe was super piece of cake with few ingredients. While the brisket was covered, the potatoes, carrots, and onion soaked up the liquid making a gooey wonderful gravy. The brisket was very tender and pull apart. Gravy is sweet but not overpowering. My whole family loved information technology. I loved the ease. Actually, read a volume for two hours while it cooked. Nosotros will definitely make this once more.
06/27/2021
The brisket turned out great. The meat was very tender and the sauce was splendid. This will be one of our regular .
03/28/2021
This was, by far, the WORST brisket recipe I've always tried. The meat was still tough (needs more time in the oven) and the gravy tasted like sickly sugariness watery ketchup. What a disappointment! What a waste of food! What a waste of fourth dimension!
03/28/2021
Yeah information technology was wonderful
ten/13/2021
Nice recipe. Consider using a tin can of regular coke instead of ginger ale. Coke provides a caramel flavor. Too, double the onions on top. I don't bother with carrots. Then make a slurry with corn starch and water and add to the sauce to thicken in to apply after as a gravy.
09/14/2021
Did a 3 lb brisket in a cooking purse every bit suggested past a reviewer. Followed the rest of the recipe as written. After three hours it was all the same tough. Later on iv hours it was a petty fleck softer just flavorless and dry out despite being in the handbag. The gravy and veggies were skilful but I was very disappointed in the meat.
03/31/2021
After the offset two hours it was hard the final hr taking the foil off just burnt it. I would put information technology in a crockpot next time with the sauce mix equally my son liked information technology. It was too sweet. It was not falling apart it was a thwarting after all that fourth dimension of cooking a big no from me.
07/09/2018
This was and then easy to make and the taste was amazing!!! I will put this in my listing of favorite goods. Grandma is a Star !!
05/08/2017
Since my husband doesn't like whatever spices (flavor) ;) I had to modify this recipe. I used an 8oz. can of no salt added tomato sauce instead of ketchup and left out the onion soup mix packet. I used a whole medium sweet onion, cut in large chunks, and nigh 3 - 4 med. carrots and the ginger ale. Information technology was Amazing! Even I liked it! I usually accept to accept some kind of seasonings on my food, especially salt. I dearest salt! It was and then tender and had a delishous sweet to it. This recipe is going to be added to my favorites and we'll make it often! Thanks for sharing it!!!!
11/19/2019
OMG the best tasting, condolement food EVER. I served it with mashed potatoes Mmmmmm skillful. I slow cooked it on low for x hours. It was ready when I got abode from piece of work OMG tin can't say enough almost this delicious dinner
07/25/2020
My grandmother too made this for all the high holidays (give thanks you Eastern Europe). The only difference was that you could not substitute Vernors ginger ale for another brand and she didn't add the onion soup. This was good & worth trying, simply I still prefer the Vernors, ketchup & water simply recipe from my childhood. thank you lot for sharing a great recipe!
04/03/2021
I read many reviews and since I love using the crock pot, I did brand mine on low for viii hours. I too used a ketchup with no corn syrup and onion mix that was a kosher spice one. I used store brand ginger ale. I'd never made a brisket before, but was making information technology for a seder meal and this tender brisket, flavored simply correct, was approved. I didn't add my vegetables because I roasted them. I e'er make my corn beefiness in the crock pot likewise.
